Vocational
Training
Many of the
girls who attend the Nigunim Hostel do not graduate with a full
matriculation certificate. The graduates generally find only menial
minimum wage jobs, a phenomenon that magnifies their low self-esteem.
Graduates are
vulnerable due to the lack of economic options available to them. With
little or no family backing and only partial matriculation
certificates, it is nearly impossible for them to succeed
independently.
Vocational
training grants these young women the opportunity to earn an
independent living.
As many find
it difficult to learn in a traditional classroom setting, sessions are
designed to both maximize the girls’ vocational skills and to
enhance their self-esteem and confidence.
Vocational
Training classes take place for four hours a week and include a Graphic
Design, an Office Management course, and a Cosmetics and Professional
Makeup course. These
courses help enable these young women to support themselves as adults
and break the cycle of abusive/abused behavior.
