Externship
Program
Bat
Melech’s externship program allows
American law students to work hands-on in Israeli family law, while
learning about Israel’s civil and rabbinical court systems
and
helping victims of domestic violence.
Interns at
Bat Melech are involved in all aspects
of the Center’s legal work, thus allowing them to help abuse
victims while learning the ins and outs of the Israeli legal system.
The interns’ responsibilities will include, but are not
limited
to: interviewing clients who have reached out to the Center’s
toll-free hotline, participating in attorney/client meetings, help to
prepare prosecution drafts, assisting in the collection and preparation
of material for cases, help to prepare plea drafts for civil and
rabbinical court sittings, and accompanying attorneys to court.
Working
knowledge of Hebrew is required. Each
intern’s caseload will depend on his/her proficiency in
Hebrew,
experience with victims of domestic violence, and legal
background/skills.
